All Ireland Champions
Congratulations to our Instrumental Music Group who were crowned All Ireland Senior Scór Champions in the City West last week end. This is the first time an All Ireland Scór Title has been won by the club and it is a significant milestone in the Club's long association with Scór. Well done to Niamh Floyd, Áine O'Malley, Ruairi Floyd, Brian McAuliffe and Louise Ryan on this fantastic achievement. Commiserations to our Ballad Group who put in a fantastic performance but unfortunately were unrewarded on the night. Group members are Teresa Galvin, Fiona Ryan and Marie, Lorna and Conor Floyd. There was a large crowd in Newport on Sunday night to welcome home both Groups. Lets hope this year's success will lead to even more success on a National scale in the future. Well done to all involved

Newport Intermediates played Rockwell Rovers in the second round of the county intermediate championship on Sunday evening last in Dundrum. This was a game that Newport started very slowly and soon found themselves 1-01 behind. When Newport started to hurl, the result was never in doubt. First half goals from Pa Ryan and Eoin Shinnors helped Newport lead at half time by 2-12 to 2-4. The introduction of Conor Floyd after 20 mins helped steady the ship.

The second half was a very one-sided encounter with Newport outscoring Rockwell 1-24 to 1-08. There were some lovely points scored but none more sublime that Pa Ryan's sideline cut from all of 40 yards. Newport's forwards were very efficient and showed great teamwork and the scores were spread evenly across the board. The concern Newport will have is the fact they conceded 3-12 and the goals were given up softly.

Scorers. Pa Ryan 1-5, Eoin Shinnors 1-5, Odhran Floyd 8pts from play, Conor Floyd 0-3, Podge Hogan 0-4, Conor O'Mahony 0-5, Martin Carey 1-1 , Peter O'Sullivan 0-2, Conor Keating 0-2, Kealan Floyd 0-1.
