Junior Hurlers.
Our juniors recorded a hard fought victory over Ballylooby on Sunday last winning by one point. With a great mixture of youth and experience in the side, this was a well-worked team effort with a last minute point by Aidan Ryan from his own 65 yard line to claim the spoils. We now prepare to face Toomevara next Sat at 5pm in Toomevara in the first round of the North League.
P.S congrats to Dave Hickey and wife Mairead on the birth of their son Daniel.

Juveniles
  • Newport had a great start the U16 Football Championship on Saturday last when they took on Slivermines at Lacken Park.  Newport won the toss and played with the slight wind and created chances in the opening few minutes and went ahead 1:2 before Silvermines got to attack Newport's defence. Newport seemed to be in full control and added more to their tally before Silvermines  got going and pulled the score back to three points before the break.  Newport looked very comfortable and  confident in holding the ball and finding their own players.  Newport were working hard from the first ball to the final whistle and looked strong as a unit and were very disciplined and organised.  Many of the Newport players shone on the day. The final score was Newport 7.08 to Slivermines 2.01. Their next outing is away to Burgess on Monday March 30th
  • Our two under 12 teams start their 2015 Football Championship campaigns with away matches v Moneygall next Saturday March 28th @ 4:30. We wish both teams the best of luck for what will be the 1st competitive match for many of our players for Newport.
  • Our under 14's have played  two very competitive challenge matches v Ballina & Monaleen in the last week in preparation for the Feile Peil which is due to be played on Easter Monday April 6th.
  • Easter Camp this year is on from Tuesday April 7th to Thursday April 9th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM each day. Cost is € 20 per child. Each child will receive a free sliotar and football. All children must be aged 6 or over to participate.
