Dinner Dance
On Saturday last the club held its victory dinner dance to celebrate 2014. It was great to see such an array of silverware on display with victories in the North Minor A, U21 B hurling, North Intermediate Hurling. On the night the winning county intermediate team of 1989 were the hououred guests. MC on the night Pat Brennan introduced the various speakers which included club chairman Padraig Tobin, Dan Kennedy North chairman and guest of honour Mr. Len Gaynor. The club would like to thank the Lakeside Hotel for their hospitality and also the O Meara's with Tom Keogh for the musical entertainment. To all club members who helped make the night such a success, well done.

Our footballers qualified to play in the North 'A' final (which is fixed for this Saturday at 4pm) after overcoming Borrisokane last Saturday on a score of 4-11 to 3-2. our opponents will be Kiladangan which will not be easy.

Scór na bPáistí:   Newport retained the Club of the year award at the North Final of Scor na bPaisti in Nenagh last Sunday. We have qualified for next Sundays County Final in Cashel in 3 items as follows - Ballad Group (Edel O'Brien, Sorcha Kirby, Mia Kissane, Marie O'Brien and Aoife Kirby), Quiz (John J Ryan, Stephen Coffey and Conor Shanahan) and Set Dancing (Aine O'Gorman, Sarah Hewitt, Edel O'Brien, Nadine Stokes, Aoife Kirby, Ciara Connolly, Marie O'Brien and Sorcha Kirby). Best of luck to all concerned. We were well represented also in the Figure Dancing, Instrumental Music, Sean Nos Dancing and the Novelty Act but unfortunately success did not come our way in these events despite excellent performances.
Senior Scór:   Preparations are well underway for the County Final of Senior Scor which will be held in Borrisoleigh on the 7th of March. We hope to have a full team going forward to represent the Club on the night.

There was no winner of our lotto jackpot so next weeks will be €3,100.  Draw held on Monday night in the clubrooms.
