Cúl Camp
Our Summer Camp in Lacken Park last week was an outstanding success with 223 children participating. Coaches included current Tipperary star Niall O'Meara, and Michael Breen also dropped in during the week to sign autographs and meet the children. The club would like to thank all the parents who volunteered to help during the week and especially Ciara Browne our Cul Camp Co-Ordinator who put in a huge amount of work to organize the week. The aerial photo taken at the Camp was shown on the big screen in Croke Park at the Tipperary v Galway game.

Duck Race
Our annual Duck Race takes place on Friday Sept 4th. Ducks can now be purchased from any committee member or team manager costing € 5.00 each. Prizes include 2 All Ireland Hurling Final Tickets and a signed Tipperary jersey. Your support would be really appreciated.

Juvenile Teams
  • Thanks to Centra & Partrick Ryan for inviting our under 10’s to the Centra Skills Day in Semple Stadium last Saturday where Eoin Kelly & current Waterford centre back Austin Gleeson were on hand to coach the children. The children really enjoyed the day.
  • Our under 14 hurlers had a fantastic win in their  North Hurling Semi Final v Shannon Rovers / Lorrha in Lorrha last Thursday evening on a scoreline of 3-09 to 2-04. They are due to play Burgess in the North Final this weekend.
  • Our under 16 hurlers won their final group match v Ballina last Monday evening in Lacken Park and we're waiting on the results of the final round of group matches to see if they qualified for a playoff game to reach a semi final.

Cardiac Screening
Cardiac Screening can help prevent Sudden Adult Death Syndrome ( SADS) which sadly up 100 young people die from in Ireland each year. Advanced Medical Systems will be holding a cardiac screening clinic in The Clubhouse on Saturday August 29th from 9:30 AM to 4:45 pm. The GAA recommends cardiac screening for all players aged over 14. If you wish to avail of this service you can book an appointment by contacting Advanced Medical Systems on 1890 300 333 or by logging onto www.ameds.ie and click on ‘book a Cardiac Sports Screening’ and using the password Newport.  The cost is €65 per person. This service is free to all LAYA Health Insurance members and if you have health insurance with another insurer you will need to check individually with your insurer if it is covered. This service is available to both club members & non members. Further information is available on our Facebook page or by contacting Alfie O Brien on 086 8102691.

Semi Final.
It was great to see so many club members of all ages in Croke Park last Sunday. Alas it was not our day in the senior game, but our minors did give us cause to celebrate. Well done to Davy Gleeson who scored the opening goal for Tipp. It was also a joy to see Conor O'Mahony make his presemce felt as he scored a great point to settle the side, who knows maybe his introduction a little earlier would have us all scrambling for tickets in September.
Fixtures
Over the next week or so, there will be a lot of activity in the local hurling scene so please see paper for fixtures.

Lotto.

There was no winner of the club lotto this week so please keep up the support as funds are a vital source of income for the club.
Moving On!
to all our members who received their leaving cert results last week and subsequent CAO offers last Monday, we wish you the very best of luck in the next chapter of your life story.
