Russell Road, Limerick € 100;  2nd Anne Marie Earle Tullow, Newport signed Tipperary Jersey;  3rd Teresa Galvin, Upper Lacken, Birdhill € 50.
  • Our under 7 & 8 hurlers took part in a blitz last Saturday morning in Nenagh and put in fantastic performances and really enjoyed their mornings hurling.
  • The Under 10’s entered two teams in The John Joe Nevin Tourament in Ballina last Sunday morning and played Ballina, Murroe / Boher & Clooney / Quinn. Both teams put in great performances in terrible weather conditions. We would like to thank the Ballina Club for organising  and inviting us to a great event which the children really enjoyed.
  • Our under 13 Hurlers were beaten by Toomevara in the second round of the The North Tipp Plate Competition last Saturday evening on a scoreline of 5:06 to 3:07. They are at home to Kilruane Mc Donaghs in their final group match this week with a date yet to be confirmed.

Minors
Our Minor Hurlers, Newport Gaels, have qualified for the Final of the North Minor 'A' Hurling Championship after a hard fought battle with Toomevara in Dolla last Wednesday night. Newport dominated the very early stages, encouraged by a goal from Michael Gorman inside the first minute. However, assisted by the breeze, Toomevara hauled themselves into the game and led by 0-10 to 1-4 at the break. The early part of the second half was very much a stalemate situation, but Newport gradually got on top and seven points from placed balls from Kealan Floyd ensured victory on a 1-13 to 0-14 scoreline. Kildangan will be the opposition in the final after their 6-8 to 1-19 victory over Kilruane in the other Semi Final. No date has been set yet for the final.

The club wishes Jack & Niall the best of luck in the All Ireland Minor Football Final on Sunday.

Juniors.
Our footballers had a great victory over Shannon Rovers on Saturday last in Portroe, winning by a margin of 22 points. This was due in no small way to the clinical finishing of Brian O Sullivan (Clemmy).
On Sunday our Junior 'B' Hurlers qualified for the North Final with a great performance against Borrisokane winning by 7 points. With the back line well marshalled by Mike Coffey, Tom Moylan controlling the middle of the park, and up front the star of the show was Aidan Moloney who proved too sharp for the Borris defence. He was ably assisted by the battling Dave Hickey on the 40.
We now face Portroe in the final on date to be confirmed.

Lotto.
There was no winner of last week's lotto so our jackpot is now up to €6000.
