Junior Hurlers
Our junior hurlers continued their good form by winning the Pallasgreen Tournament on Sunday last. Group victories over Broadford 0-5 to 0-3 and Pallasgreen 0-7 to 0-3 put them into the 'A' final. This was a real battle with Broadford taking a commanding 2-4 to 1-1 interval lead. But sterling work from Richard Shinnors, Martin Carey, Mark Maguire and Conor Keating, coupled with scores from Nigel Jones and a wonder goal from Dave Hickey saw Newport claim the spoils on a 2-6 to 2-4 score line. Team captain Mark Harrington collected the trophy.

Minors
Our Minor Footballers commence their championship on this Thursday in the Park at 6pm when they take on neighbours Ballina.
Hard luck to our 3 county minor hurling panelists on losing to a very strong Limerick side on Thursday last in the Gaelic Grounds. Great to see Newport GAA represented on the field of play at this level.
Best of luck to Jack Delahunty who will be part of the Tipp minor football panel when they travel to Waterford this Wednesday in the opening championship encounter.

Local Game
The club hosted a senior hurling championship game on Sat last between Portroe and Cappawhite. Thank you to everyone who helped out on the evening and who helped to have the field in such good shape.
