Last week's numbers were 6,15,19 & 28 with no winner. Lucky dips go to Nancy Hickey, Martin Bonfield, Padraig Kennedy, Martin Reilly & Gerard Brennan. Next week's jackpot will be €5,450.

Under 12
Our U12 hurlers begin their championship with a home tie against Ballinahinch on Friday in Lacken Park. Working with a small panel this year, manager Allon Flynn's team will compete in group 3.

Under 14
Newport Gaels U14 hurling championship begins Wednesday week when they travel to Portroe to compete in the B Grade.

Under 16 & 18
Our 16's and minors are taking it easy at the moment as they do some light training as most of the squads are sitting their exams currently. Best of luck to all with the exams.

Our Junior hurlers had a great win on Saturday last when they fought off strong opposition from Silvermines to win out by a goal. An early goal from Dave Hickey followed by another 1-2 from Mike Coffey set Newport up nicely. Christy Connors and Mike Aherne had a very solid game with Newport holding out for a 2-13 to 1-13 win. This win means that Newport are now in the North Junior B league semi final where they will meet either Portroe or Templederry. Commiserations go to Dave Hickey who suffered another break during the game.

Intermediate Hurling
Unfortunately our game in the new County Championship versus Cahir last week was called off at Cahir's request. Our next scheduled game is against Galtee Rovers on June 15th. More details next week.

Our involvement in both the Primary and Secondary schools was brough to a finale last week when at Primary level we helped with the annual tournament in the Pairc. This year, teams from Newport BNS, Birdhill and Ballinahinch schools participated. In the Cup final, Birdhill A had a good win over Ballinahinch thanks to goals from Emma Flanagan and Thomas Floyd. Newport BNS provided the Shield final participants as they fielded two teams. Well done to Mr Skehan and Mr McCormack for organising the day which was enjoyed by all.
Meanwhile, in St Mary's Secondary School the victorius U18 hurling team were presented with their Munster medals by Tipp's Seamus Callinan and Limerick's Niall Moran. They also received a track suit in memory of the occasion. Special thanks to all in St Mary's School who helped with our games throughout the year and thanks also to Centra for providing the food.
