Minor Hurling
Newport Gaels Minor hurlers began the Championship with a home game against Nenagh on Sunday. In a high scoring game Newport came out the wrong end of a 1-18 to 0-17 scoreline. Nevertheless, Newport will be happy enough with this performance and travel to Cloughjordan this Weds to play Kilruane. Throw in at 8pm. Borrisoleigh, Kildangan & Toomevara make up the remainder of this "A" group.

 Junior Hurling
Our Junior B's have had a tough 2 weeks of competition. Firstly, they were narrowly beaten by Portroe in the Nth League semi and then last week they fell  to Ballina in  the first Rd of the Nth Championship grp stage.

 Intermediate Hurling
The intermediates have one game left in the county championship group stage and that is against neighbours Ballinahinch. To date we have won two games and received two walkovers, which means we are joint top with Ballinahinch. After this game we will play Shannon Rovers in the Nth Semi. Tipp's result on next Sat night will determine when these fixtures take place.

 Under 16
Newport Gaels U16 footballers had a great 1-11 to 1-6 win over Arravale Rvrs in the Co Semi last week. They now await the outcome of the Drom/Commercial's semi to see who they will meet in the county final. The final date is TBC.  Also, the U16 A hurling championship is ready to commence and our first game is away to Kilruane. Date TBC.
