Well done to the Newport & Ballinahinch U21B hurlers who had a dramatic extra time victory over Silvermines in the North quarter final on Sunday last.  Congrats to the team and management who must be commended for turning out so late in the year.
Newport & Ballinahinch U21 teams began the year with some uncertainity due to the small numbers of players available to each club and after some discussion they made the sensible decision to pool resources and field a combined outfit. Ballinahinch Gaels  began their activity in the U21B football and ultimately went on to win the County final. Focus has since switched to the North U21 B hurling championship where they contested the quarter final on Sunday last v's Silvermines in Templederry. This proved to be a thriller with The Gaels losing a man early in the game through a straight red and the teams being level at the end of normal time. They were then able to restore to 15 aside for the extra time. After the extra 20 mins, Ballinahinch/Newport Gaels ran out winners on a scoreline of 3-19 to Silvermines 3-14. The team lined out as follows with the scorers:
 Darragh McGrath
Rob Houlihan 0-1
Paddy Kelly
Joe Conneely
John Ryan Bawn
Odhran Floyd 0-2
Edward Ryan
Conor Floyd 0-1
Kevin mulachy 0-3
Martin Carey 0-1
Kevin Fitzpatrick
Pa Ryan 0-2
Brendan Ryan 2-4
David Ryan 0-1
Aidan Moloney 1-4
Subs used :Matthew Connolly and James Healy.
Ballinahinch/Newport will next meet Borrisokane in the North semi-final.
