All Ireland Champions
Congratulations to the Newport/Ballinahinch Under 14 Camogie team who last weekend were crowned All Ireland Féile na nGael champions. They kept the Corn Uí Phuirséil trophy in Tipperary, emulating Cahir's achievement of 2011. They thus became the third club from Tipperary to win the 'A' title, since camogie was introdued to the Féile in 1975 - Templemore were winners in 1996. This was a remarkable achievement for the local girls, having progressed from participating in the 'C' grade in the county just a few years ago, to winning a national premier title. Further lustre was added to their feat by the fact that they played their final in Croke Park, although they were nearly denied this honour by an appeal involving other teams.
