Schools
Birdhill and Newport Boys National Schools competed in the Primary Indoor Blitz in Nenagh last Tuesday.  While Birdhill failed to make it through to the final stages, they put in some very impressive performances throughout the day and coach, Joe Floyd was very pleased with their display.  Newport, under Mr. Skehane, had a very good day out as they finished joint top of their group with Lisenhall.  Well done to all concerned.
Pitch conditions and mock exams are causing problems with secondary school fixtures at present. It now looks like St. Mary's U16's and U14's will not play until after mid-term.  Congratulations to St. Mary's senior camogie team who recently won the Munster Final, many of whom started out playing hurling with our U10's.

Social Night
Newport G.A.A. will hold a Social night in The Freigh Inn on Saturday 17th March.  Doors open at 9:30p.m. On this night you will see some club members as you have never seen them before!!. A very entertaining night is in store for all, so please come and show your support.

Scór
Scór na bPáistí: Newport Community Centre played host to the North Final of Scór na bPáistí on Friday night. It proved to be a great night's entertainment and competition. Well done to our Figure Dance team of Emma Flanagan, Aoife Kirby, Orla O'Brien, Ciara Connolly, Nadine Stokes, Sarah Hewitt, Rhian Quigley and Aine O'Gorman and our Instrumental Music Group of Niamh Bourke, Orla O'Brien, Kate Hewitt, Lisa McKeogh and Denis Allen. They go on to represent the North Division in the County Final in Cashel at 2.30pm on Sunday next, 12th February. Hard luck to our other representatives who were unsuccessful on the night. Special word of thanks to all who helped out on the night especially with the catering. Thanks also to the Newport Community Council for the use of their fabulous facilities.
Scór Sinsir:  Groups should now be getting themselves organised for the Senior Scór which takes place in Borrisoleigh on Sat 25th Feb.
