Faoi 15’s: Congratulations to our under 15 Hurlers who had a fantastic weekend in the Feile Hurling competition winning Group 4 of the competition on Sunday morning in Dr Morris Park v Burgess.
In a highly entertaining and competitive match in which Newport led most of the way, before conceding a late goal they battled to the very end to get the much-needed point to send the game into extra time. The players dug deep in extra time and secured the vital scores to record a great victory by the tightest of margins on a final score line of 0-10 to 0-09. It takes two great teams to make a great match and Burgess gave us a great battle right to the very end. Newport had travelled to Ballylooby for their group matches on Saturday where they played Loughmore – Castleiney , Knockmealdown Gaels and Kildangan.  Next it was off to Dundrum to play their Semi-Final v St Patrick’s. After a slow start they eventually got to grips with the game and went on to win on a scoreline of 2-05 to 1-01 to qualify for the final on Sunday. We would like to thank Shane Gavin and all of the management team for all the hard work that they have put in with this group of players since they started with the club. Their efforts were rewarded last weekend.
