Sympathies: The Club has been deeply saddened

by the death of Joseph Conneely who died peacefully at his home last Sunday. Joe was a real competitor on the field and a true gentleman off it. He was involved with Newport teams from a young age, captaining the Under 21 Footballers to county honours in 2013 and making the Intermediate Hurling team  later that year, before falling ill. The club extends its sympathies to the Conneely family and to all of the many friends of Joe. May he rest in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

Junior Hurling: Our Junior B hurlers had another win in the North championship on Saturday night against Lorrha in Lacken Park. Final score Lorrha 1-15 Tulach Sheasta 3-13.

Minor Hurling: Our Minor Hurlers lost out to Kildangan in Dolla last Wednesday on a score line of Kildangan 0-17 Newport 1-11. They now face Borrisoleigh in a must win game to qualify.

Under 16: The U16's played Ballina on Monday evening last. Ballina proved to be a stronger side with a final score of Newport 4-12 to Ballina 6-16. Their next match will be against Borrisokane on August 8th to be played in Newport.

Under 14: The U14's will play Borrisokane in Lacken park on Wednesday July 27th at 7.00pm.

Under 12:  U12B's game was postponed this week. They will now play Borrisokane in the North Quarter Final on Wednesday evening July 27th at 7pm in Lacken park. U12D team played Moneygall/Clonakenny on Friday evening last in Lacken Park in the North Quarter Final. Moneygall/Clonakenny were a strong physical side and Newport were under pressure in the first half having failed to score. Christopher Moloney pulled off some great saves and kept us in the game. Newport came out in the second half and showed great heart and sheer determination. It was a very exciting and close game with Newport winning by 1 point. They are now through to a North Semi Final - fixtures to be arranged.

Juvenile Blitz: Murroe/ Boher travelled with great numbers to Lacken Park on Saturday last for a hurling blitz with our U6's and U8's. They played 3 matches each and all the players enjoyed it immensely.

Reminder:  Registration for this year's Cúl Camp, which is from 15th to 19th inclusive, can be done online at www.kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie
