Minor: Our Minor Hurlers had a bad start in the championship with a below par performance against a very strong and well organised Moneygall/Clonakenny side. A big improvement is required for this week's game against Kildangan.

Under16: The U16 hurlers played Portroe last week in the Championship and were beaten in a score of 1-4 to 1-18.

Under 11: On Sat morning 16th July our u11s travelled to Doon for the second annual Jack Mc Donnell Tournament. Our first game was against Sean Treacys and we hurled very well to win by one score. We then played Eire Og Annacarty and won that after another tight game. We then played two Doon teams and won these games. Our final game was against Pallasgreen which we won by 2 scores. We were now in the final against Cappawhite who were the defending champions. Two great scores by Daniel Ryan put Newport ahead but Cappawhite drew level before half time. Bryan Nolan scored from a tight angle to put us one score ahead. Some great defending by our backs held out Cappawhite until the last puck of the game when Cappawhite were awarded a free which they duly pointed to level the game. After the final we were treated to great hospitality by the Doon Club and everyone was fed with a barbeque of hot dogs and burgers. We are already looking forward to next year.

Under 12: U12B played Kilruane McDonaghs on Friday last and had a very convincing win 3-6 to 0-4. U12D played Borrisoleigh last Friday evening and won by 3-5 to 3-2. Quarter finals in the U12 championship will be played next Friday evening. No fixtures arranged as of yet.

County Scene: Well done to Pa Ryan and Conor Floyd who were part of the Tipperary U21 Squad that defeated favourites Limerick last Thursday. They will now play Waterford in the Munster Final next Wednesday 27th July.
