Intermediate Hurling: Our Intermediate hurlers had a great win over Kilsheelan-Kilcash in the County Quarter Final last Sunday in Dundrum on a scoreline of 5-14 to 0-6. Please see match report. They now return to Dundrum to face Lattin Cullen Gaels in the County Semi Final at 2pm on Saturday. The panel really appreciated the support last Sunday and hope that the people of Newport will turn out in their numbers again to support them this weekend.

Under 6: The U6's welcomed Ahane on Saturday last to Lacken Park for a blitz. It was the final blitz of the year for the U6's and they had over 40 children participating. They all played brilliantly and really enjoyed the games. The coaches would like to thank the parents for their cooperation during the year and for bringing the children to  training and blitzes. We look forward to seeing all the children again next year in Lacken Park.

Under 8: The U8's also played Ahane in a blitz on Saturday last. They played 3 games each and the improvement the kids have made during the year was very evident. They have one final blitz on Saturday next when they will play the girls.

Night at the Dogs:  Many thanks to all who supported our very enjoyable 'Night at the Dogs' last Saturday night at Limerick Greyhound Stadium. We would like to thank all our nominators, ticket buyers and those who gifted spot prizes for the raffle. We were delighted to have the Liam McCarthy and Irish Press cups present and many photos were taken. The following were the winning nominators from each race. Race 1. Ger Floyd; Race 2. Gleeson Tyres, Ahane; Race 3. Newport Rugby Club; Race 4. Alan Mooney; Race 5. Fiona Bonfield; Race 6. Vincent O' Toole; Race 7. Mulcair Pharmacy; Race 8. Larry Mc Grath; Race 9. Cora Moroney; Race 10. JJ Ryan Tyres; Race 11. Clement Ryan; Race 12. Brian Healy. Our 12 winning nominators were put in a hat and the overall winner was Gleeson Tyres Ahane. Míle buíochas to you all.

All Ireland Champions Visit Schools: Monday 3rd October was a very special day for the schools in our parish when the Liam McCarthy and the Irish Press Cups came to visit all the schools in the parish. Cathal Barrett, Brian McGrath and Cian Flanagan were also present and the students entertained them with music, poems and songs. All the students were dressed up in their Tipp jerseys and listened attentively to the players when they spoke especially our own Cian Flanagan and had plenty of questions for the boys. A big thank you to Andy Ryan and Timmy Floyd for organising the visit and hopefully it will inspire more young lads to follow the example of Cian Flanagan and the rest of the players.
